Office politics at the Indels' shop and Willi's rise to Mrs Indel's right-hand man

One day Mr Indel told me that another man was coming out from Switzerland, and I thought that was my chance to get free again. So I wrote asking for the sack - but I never got it: Mrs Indel spoke to me so kindly that I thought I really was a funny fellow. Then came John Cigle, a young fellow who takes life as it comes - a flirt and a flatterer, and just the sort the Indels like, or that suits them best. John lasted all of two months, and he was running the whole show. But in the end they learnt that he had weaknesses which were harming the business. From the day Mr Indel went on holiday I was Mrs Indel's right-hand man, and I must say I had a really good time. That was also when the close harmony was broken, and from then on there was always war within the family, as I will call them. The business was improving, and it would have done better still if Mr Indel had been the boss instead of Mrs.
